|
Oval hole version of the Stretto mandolin. Same 352mm scale, with single transverse soundhole brace. The oval soundhole design gives a more mellow, rounder tone than the F hole version. Bass is strong with lots of overtones, rich mids and trebles, and a long sustain. More suitable for Celtic, Classical, Old Time styles than straight ahead Bluegrass. Sitka spruce front, figured sycamore for back and ribs, mahogany neck. Ebony is used for the fingerboard, bridge, and peghead veneer. The featured mandolin was custom built with Swallow gold mop inlays, inset peghead purfling, quilted maple back and ribs, and three piece mahogany/quilted maple neck. |
