Martin Taylor 'Gypsy'

An inspired, new, flat-top acoustic guitar designed
by Martin Taylor and Mike Vanden

This guitar is a full bodied acoustic instrument based on the 'Artistry' outline. The brief was to design an instrument that was versatile enough to use for Django type swing as well as finger style celtic or blues. It has a full, deep, rich acoustic sound.

The pickup system is a prototype system based on the Fishman Rare Earth blend with a different case shape. With the innovative mounting system the pickup can be quickly removed yet it requires no clamps making it even less conspicuous, (not available as a retro-fit system). There is also an under-saddle active piezo system. Using this set-up with a stereo output, it is possible to blend the magnetic, microphone and piezo using the on-board rotary blend fitted to the pickup casing. So as not to compromise the acoustic performance and to keep weight to a minimum there are no rib-mounted pre-amps, therefore no extra holes in the guitar other than for the end-pin socket.

Martin took the prototype and played it on his Spirit of Django tour.

A guitar which sets new standards.
A player's dream, either acoustic or amplified.
